About Aurora Mahassine

Artist and inventor Aurora Mahassine has 30 years of experience working with butterflies. She first became interested in them when her mother was raising 3 species of them in their home. Then she began to educate herself about butterflies living in urban environments. While human city dwellers tend to hate weeds, Aurora discovered that butterflies thrive on them. She decided to create pockets on exterior walls of her home to grow weeds and provide a hospitable environment for butterflies. This rudimentary invention led to the creation of Aurora's living wall system.
